After Hera recently announced his own Worlds Edge sponsored tournament, we finally got a winner. And it is nobody less than Grubby! With a total winning of $2,500 he takes home a major part of the money.

For everybody who missed the tournament: The King's Gauntlet had 2 major tournament stages. The first one was a group-ladder phase. A various amount of streamers and influencers got together and formed groups, which defined if they were able to take part in the final playoffs.

After a few nailbiting weeks of ladder action it turned into a multi-day 8+ hours per day streaming marathon for Hera. A 16 man Double Elimination bracket had to be played out and streamed. Games usually went deep into the night for Europeans, or really early into the morning for the other side of the world.

Even though the final was played in the middle of the night for Grubby and PiG had to play through the whole night, he managed to take the win with a close 3-2 victory.

The tournament generated many new faces for our beloved game, opening up the opportunity for fellow streamers to join and stream the game, together with other content creators.

Age of Empires II: DE has been holding a steady 17k to 20k average player base as per Steamcharts. Certainly, events like these help our community grow.
